«To paint from nature means to see the world as it is here and now. Impressions, thoughts, memories, all this is manifested on the canvas»

The artist paints his canvases in the technique «a la prima», which allows to create a painting from nature in one session. The attention of artists has always been attracted by the inconstancy of the mood of nature. Once the great Claude Monet said: «I would like to paint the way the birds sing». Namely Monet was able to see in this technique extraordinary opportunities for conveying the flow of time and life, instantaneous changes in the beauty of nature. This technique was most popular in the middle of the 19th century. Alexander Babich following Isaac Levitan and Arkhip Kuindzhi masterly conveys the state of nature, which is especially changeable in the mountains. His work can be attributed to contemporary Russian impressionism.

Every year the artist travels to the Caucasus mountains, where he creates his paintings. «To paint from nature means to see the world as it is here and now. Impressions, thoughts, memories, all this is manifested on the canvas», says Alexander. The uniqueness of the artist is that he is recognizable. Anyone who knows his manner of painting will recognize his work from thousands of others. Alexander Babich painted more than two thousand paintings, many of which are in private collections in France, England, Germany, Austria, USA, Canada, Japan.
